I'm only giving the ER at this hospital two stars because someone evidently lied or they had no clue of what they were doing. My husband and I took our 5 year old daughter to the ER on Sunday night March 5th . We were there from 9:45pm to a little after 2am the following morning. We took our daughter there because she had a fever of 104.2 and it was climbing and we couldn't get it down. When we finally got to a room and a young doctor came in to talk to us and then she had a nurse to come in swab my daughter for the flu and strep throat. After the the nurse left a more season doctor came in to follow-up behind the younger doctor because I think she was new to her job plus she did say her supervisor would come in and check behind her. Well, while waiting forever for the results it came back that my daughter had the flu and no strep throat. So they told me to alternate with Motrin and Tylenol and she should be fine in a couple of days. Well she wasn't. I stop giving her Tylenol and just gave he Motrin because it was helping just a little bit better than the Tylenol. Monday night she broke out all over in a rash and her fever stayed from 101 to 103. So that Tuesday morning I called her pediatrician and he said for me to bring her in because it sounded like she had strep throat. When I got her there I informed him that we had been to the ER Sunday night and that they said she had the flu but the results for strep throat came back negative. He said he would swab her again because he was almost positive that it was strep throat. Well after swabbing her and waiting no more than ten minutes her results came back positive for strep throat. He explained that that's why her fever would never break and that he would prescribe her some antibiotics and after a day or two she she be able to return to school if she is fever free for 24 hours. It is now Thursday and I get a call from Children's of Alabama and they're telling me that they are calling me to let me know that my daughter's results for strep throat is positive. I told her yeah I know because her pediatrician had already seen her after the fact we had been to the ER and that she's been treated for it and had returned back to school this morning. She apologized and said it took two days for the results to come back. I was so lost for words because I then realized that my husband and I had been lied to or the nurse and doctors that saw us didn't know what they were doing or they just didn't care about my child all together. She said it took two days but it's Thursday. Plus it took the hospital supposedly two days for the results but it took a doctors office only 10 minutes. She knew someone screwed up especially when I told her my daughters pediatrician had already seen her, and treated her for the problem and she had already returned to school that morning.
